Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows in Fort Lauderdale: What to Know First

We’re Winslow Windows & Doors, an independent Therma-Tru service provider in Fort Lauderdale, and we handle custom and geometric window jobs that most contractors won’t touch: arched transoms, radius tops, trapezoids, oversized picture windows, and full-wall geometric arrangements. Most Therma-Tru custom window work in Fort Lauderdale takes 2 to 6 weeks from measure to install, depending on glass fabrication and permitting. Pricing is honest and line-itemed upfront, with free estimates and no trip charge inside Broward County. If you own a Therma-Tru geometric window that’s fogged, leaking, or just not sitting right, call (904) 913-5886 and a live person will actually answer, day or night.

How Therma-Tru Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Therma-Tru built its name on entry doors, but their window lines show up in plenty of Fort Lauderdale homes, especially newer construction and remodels along Victoria Park, Rio Vista, and Coral Ridge. Custom geometric shapes magnify every weak point. Here’s what we actually see in the field:

  • Therma-Tru Signature Series radius units: seal failure at the curve. The curved insulated glass unit (IGU) on an arched or radius window flexes more than a rectangular unit as it heats and cools. After five to seven years of South Florida sun, the seal at the apex of the curve is usually the first to go. You’ll see fogging that starts at the top of the arch and creeps downward. The fix is a full IGU replacement, but the curve has to be templated precisely, not guessed at. We measure the radius at three points before ordering glass, which cuts the reorder rate to nearly zero.
  • Geometric units with internal grid systems: grid rattle and seal compromise. Therma-Tru windows with simulated divided lites use an internal grid sandwiched between glass panes. On trapezoids and triangles, those grids are cut at angles, and the connection points are stress risers. We’ve pulled apart units where the grid had separated and was rattling against the glass every time a door closed. It’s not a structural risk, but it’s irritating. We replace the IGU with a fresh grid and a new argon fill.
  • Flashing failures on arched and eyebrow windows. Geometric windows have more flashing termination points than rectangles. On a standard window, flashing runs in straight lines. On an arch, every curve is a place where water finds a way in if the original installer cut corners. We regularly see water staining on drywall below arched windows in Fort Lauderdale homes built between 2005 and 2015. Our fix is a full re-flash with the window pulled, the opening inspected, and new pan flashing integrated into the WRB, not just caulked over it.
  • Operating hardware on Therma-Tru casement and awning units in geometric configurations. When a geometric window is operable, the hardware carries more load than on a standard unit, especially on windward elevations. We replace worn crank mechanisms and hinges with OEM parts where available, and quality aftermarket equivalents where OEM lead times stretch past what’s reasonable. On coastal Fort Lauderdale properties, we recommend stainless hardware on anything within a mile of the Intracoastal.
  • Frame warping on dark-framed Therma-Tru units facing west. Dark bronze and black frames absorb a lot of heat on west-facing Fort Lauderdale walls. Over time, vinyl and composite frames can warp slightly, which throws off the reveal on geometric shapes and makes the window bind. We’ve corrected this by realigning the frame and, in severe cases, replacing the unit with a lighter color or a higher-temp-rated composite.

Our Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows Process

When you call Winslow Windows & Doors about a Therma-Tru geometric window, here’s what happens, start to finish:

  1. 1
You call (904) 913-5886. A live person answers, 24/7. We ask about the window, the symptoms, and the address. We schedule the visit at your convenience.
  2. 2
We diagnose on site. Ed or one of our background-checked techs comes out, measures everything, and tells you straight what’s wrong and what it needs. No vague talk, no upsell.
  3. 3
You get a written, line-item estimate. Fixed pricing. If you already have a written estimate from another company, bring it. We’ll give you a free second opinion.
  4. 4
We fabricate or source the right parts. OEM Therma-Tru where it matters and where lead times work. Quality aftermarket where it doesn’t. You’ll know which is which before we order.
  5. 5
We install, test, and stand behind it. The window goes in square, flashed correctly, and tested. If it’s not done right, our 36500-Day Done Right Promise means we come back and make it right. Period.

What Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows Costs in Fort Lauderdale

Custom geometric glass in Fort Lauderdale isn’t a commodity, so here are real numbers from jobs we’ve done:

  • Single radius or arch IGU replacement: $450 – $900 installed, depending on size and glass package.
  • Trapezoid or triangle fixed window replacement: $700 – $1,400 installed.
  • Full geometric window replacement (custom shape, energy-efficient, impact-rated): $1,200 – $3,800+ installed, driven by size, shape complexity, and whether impact glass is required.
  • Re-flashing and weatherproofing on an existing geometric window: $300 – $800, depending on access and how much sill and trim work is needed.

What moves the price: frame material, impact rating, glass package (Low-E, argon, tinting), and how accessible the opening is. We don’t pad estimates, and the price we quote is the price you pay. Call (904) 913-5886 to schedule your free estimate.

Why Fort Lauderdale Homeowners Call Winslow Windows & Doors for Therma-Tru Work

We’ve been doing this since 2011, locally owned and owner-operated, with Ed Winslow’s name on the door and on every job. That’s not a slogan around here. It’s a fact. Our techs arrive in uniform, background-checked, and they know Therma-Tru windows well enough to tell you what’s actually wrong before they touch anything. If a Therma-Tru unit isn’t worth saving, we’ll tell you that too, and we can show you alternatives from PGT, CGI, CWS, and ES Windows, because we’re authorized installers for all of them. Fort Lauderdale salt air doesn’t forgive sloppy work. Neither do we. My name’s on the door, literally. That means it gets done right. The one down the road.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."

OOdessa Fairbanks
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."
